I occasionally take a look at what competitors are doing. Sometimes I look at what other people WHO AREN'T competitors are doing. In this post, I am going to show you something interesting (or at least I find interesting).
I was over at Grizzly's blog taking a look at some of the people he suggests in the MMO niche. One of them is the very funny Allyn Haynes from Blogger Illustrated who is into Video Blogging.
The term gets roughly 1,900 queries a month. Not much by a long stretch but a nice long tail traffic wise, nonetheless.So, I was curious if he was ranked for this term (yet...he will be although not yet).

What interests me is not any of the sites on the first page though. Nestled down near the bottom on the second page is a twitter account that is ranking for Video Blogging. Now, this is nothing more than a yahoo group account but just goes to show you how powerful parasitic sites with trust rank can be.
With a PR of 5, that is one powerful twitter account, if you ask me.
Another pretty good example of this is http://villagegirl.typepad.com/
This site is higher than the twitter account but used typepad as it host. 546 inbound links according to Yahoo and it boasts a PR4. Pretty impressive for someone who isn't necessarily trying to rank for anything.
At any rate, I found it interesting.
